About Us

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Human Brain Tissue Repository — established 2021 as a satellite centre of the ICMR Brain Bank Network.

At the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Brain Bank, we are committed to driving progress in neuroscience by enabling access to carefully preserved, high-quality brain tissue that supports scientific breakthroughs. The AIIMS Human Brain Tissue Repository (HBTR) was established in 2021 in the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine.

Every donation tells a story. Every sample brings scientists one step closer to answers to challenging questions — enabling better diagnosis, improved treatments, and ultimately prevention of neurological conditions like Parkinson's, dementia, stroke, and Alzheimer's.

"Be Part of the Journey: Help us unravel the brain's mysteries and advance medicine for generations to come."

Our Objectives

1

Establish Brain Banks

To establish satellite Brain Banks in India for promoting research in neuroscience, with standardised protocols for collection, freezing, and neuropathological diagnosis.

2

Networking

Networking of satellite Brain Banks with NIMHANS as the nodal centre to create a coordinated national research infrastructure.
